Frequently Asked Questions
What are your credentials?
I have worked for the past five years in veterinary hospitals all over Brooklyn. I started out at Heart of Brooklyn Veterinary Hospital, Carroll Gardens Vet Group, and found myself loving the job I have now at the Veterinary Emergency & Referral Group. As a receptionist, it has always been my job to help clients navigate the emotional weight of euthanasia as well as help them decide on aftercare options. I found myself being drawn to helping people in their darkest moments and pursued getting a certificate from the University of Vermont as a Companion Animal End-Of-Life Doula. I am interested in helping you through the grieving and euthanasia process as well as organizing ceremonies, if you feel that suits your needs.
What is a pet funeral?
A pet funeral is whatever ceremonial act you would like to honor your companion animal. At Furever Together, we offer two different packages:
Euthanasia Ceremony
A euthanasia ceremony is where we hold a service at the same time we say goodbye. This can be performed at your veterinarian’s office or during an at-home euthanasia appointment.
Pet Memorial Service
A pet memorial service is a service we can hold at your home or preferred space in order hold a ceremony to honor your pet.
What if I don’t want a service?
If performing some type of service or having an event doesn’t suit your needs, you are more than welcome to have a consultation with me to see if you’d like me to support you through counseling sessions. Deciding to let go of a pet can be traumatizing but I have the tools to help you manage the grieving process.
What if I’m afraid to pursue euthanasia?
I am equipped to consult medical records and speak with your veterinarian. After working for years as a Client Services Representative at veterinary hospitals I understand the circumstances that arise with taking care of a senior animal.
What if my pet passed away a long time ago?
Time does not matter when it comes to grieving and memorialization. If you feel you are ready now after one year or ten years, I would love to help you put together a service catered to you.
